SHIZZLE INC.

Shizzle, Inc (Isa Maxwell, #1)Shizzle, Inc by Ana Spoke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Not really a ‘bloke’s’ book, I’d say – but a good, fun romp of a chick-lit novel. Some very funny lines and images created. The plot is simple enough, but I did feel it really stretched the bounds of realism towards the end. It felt that Ana had an idea for the follow-up and was keen to get it started, and so rushed the assumptions and situations that led to the end.

This is one of those books that I read as if in ‘film’ mode. It would definitely come across well as a TV movie.

Yeah – a good, fun read. And yes, I’ve already downloaded that follow-up. And again, yes – I am looking forward to reading it.

  1. I think Ana intended it to stretch the bounds of realism, which was one of the things that made it extra funny, but perhaps it takes a female reader to grasp that! (…I’m just being cheeky, not sexist, of course). The next novel, Indiot, stretches things further, but you just need to suspend belief for a while (as with some comedy movies that are sometimes so over the top) Yes, I agree that it would make a good movie, just as Indiot would do, too.

    • Yeah – I’m not knocking it. It’s a fun read. Just felt the last chapter or two was a bit rushed. Gave it a 3* purely coz not the type of book I could properly judge as i don’t read others in that genre. But I thought that was maybe a little harsh and recently bumped it to a 4*

      • I don’t normally read that genre either, but it was a pleasant break from all the usual crime, dystopian, and other dark fiction I usually read. To use an analogy, it’s a bit like watching The Great Bake Off on TV, for a break from Game of Thrones!
