My first book, ‘Damp Dogs & Rabbit Wee,’ was really an exercise just to see how the self-publishing thing panned out. The idea was to gain experience in that whole new world before embarking on my lighthearted fantasy adventure.

It surprised me how well it sold though, considering I was complete novice. However, that meant I spent so much time over the following year doing promos and marketing and all the ‘boring’ stuff.

I did eventually get my fantasy started – but I then had a whizz-bang idea for another book. So I made a start on that as well.

Then Covid hit.

Lockdown resulted in my reconnecting with school friends from forty-odd years ago. One thing led to another and in January 2021, together with a pal I’d not seen since 1974, started a blog all about our memories of growing up in the late ’60s and 1970s.

The blog (Once Upon a Time in The ’70s) has proven a great success – but has taken an inordinate amount of my time.

On top of that, I had the inspiration to write a short book about stray beach and street dogs in Goa, India. Then, following a cardiac arrest last April, I found it most cathartic to write a positive, but light recollection of all that surrounded that event – ‘No Laughing Matter – a short tale of death and how to recover from it.’

Now, I’m making moves to package my own posts to the ’70s blog, in a book format.

All of which has meant that my proposed, amusing fantasy has stalled at around page # 170. I think. It’s been so long since I’ve looked at it, I really am not sure.

I seem to have the attention span of a fruit fly.

It’s gonna be great though – just you wait and see.
