Sweet Dreams (Aren’t Made of This)- Part Three.

(Part One.)

(Part Two.)

Like most people, I would dream every night. Most mornings, I’d have no recollection of what had been downloaded into the dark recesses of my slumbering brain. But by the mid-Eighties I was more attuned to the dreams of a prophetic nature.

Emboldened with the Dream-Giver’s help of a weird, residual sensation in the pit of my very being, I was sufficiently confident to tell my wife Diane, and anyone else willing to listen, just what bad / terrible event would soon unfold. Sometimes the predicted happening was imminent, but in the main it would occur within a couple of weeks, max.

One however, would take several years to manifest. Fortunately, I had witness to my premonition in my wife and also my work colleagues with whom I shared the details of my sad dream.

Princess Diana: it was 1984 when I dreamed this. To outsiders looking in, the marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was all fine and dandy. They had just become parents for the second time, and neither, as I understand had embarked on their alleged affairs.

I woke one morning to boldly tell my Diane, that HRH Diana would never become Queen.

In my dream, I passed by her on a railway platform. She was dressed in black, and her hat had a short black veil pulled down over her face. Prince Charles was not with her. As she silently passed, she pulled up the veil. I turned around to see her walk in the opposite direction, just as she did likewise. She gave me that coy look she was famous for, while tilting her head slightly to one side. I could see she was desperately sad.

Judging from her dress, she was evidently in mourning. But there were no other mourners present, never mind Prince Charles, or her two sons. She did have two Ladies in Waiting accompany her, one on either side.

I was reluctant to say so, but told my wife that Diana was terribly unhappy and the reason she wouldn’t be Queen was she would not live long enough.

Jan Smuts Airport car bomb: on 27th April 1994, I near crashed my car as I listened to the radio news on my commute to work!

An hour or so earlier, I had awakened from a deep sleep several minutes before my bedside alarm did what I bought it for. I woke with a start, my ears surprisingly ‘ringing’ with that sensation felt as the airplane you’re on descends on approach to its destination. I automatically pinched my nose and ‘blew’ in the hope that would clear my head.

I was shaking. It was the dream itself that had woken me. I had been standing in an airport departure lounge, looking out a large window. I heard a telephone ring and ran to answer the public phone a few metres away. As I placed my head inside the phone-booth hood and lifted the receiver, there was an almighty explosion. The window I’d just been looking out of, shattered and showered other passengers. It was the noise from the explosion that had given me that feeling of compression in my ears.

I checked the time display on my alarm clock. It was only minutes until the alarm would sound, so I just got up. But I knew something big and violent was going to happen. I woke my wife to tell her. She was not best pleased! Something big and violent nearly happened right there and then! 😀

As I set off for work, I wondered where and when this (I assumed) bomb blast would occur. The answer was provided within ten minutes of me setting out.

The bomb blast had happened. An hour ago. In Johannesburg, South Africa. At the city’s airport. Outside the departure lounge. At precisely the time I was startled out of my sleep.

Wow! What is it they say?

This sh** just got real!

  1. Wow!! You really are recounting a great deal of interesting and harrowing events as they relate to your dreams! Definitely looking forward to the next installment of this, and I’ll definitely be including your posts in the next dream discussion! Thank you so much for sharing, it’s certainly a gift (and a curse, as I always say) to have these dreams, but the recounting of them is highly intriguing!

    • Thanks Laura – they are getting more severe and specific as my posts go – another couple of days left too.
And, yes please – feel free to link back or whatever when you do your next post on dreams in general. That’d be brilliant. Cheers
