Do you remember what you were doing at precisely 1:32 pm on Sunday 20th October 2019? I do. I was making brunch – a couple of bacon sandwiches and a mug of coffee for my wife and I.

Why do I recall such a mundane happening? Because I was stopped in my tracks by a dreadful sense of foreboding. It’s impossible for me to describe this feeling. It was way more intense than I had felt previously in my prophetic dreams; I’m not exaggerating when I say I was trembling and feeling a bit nauseous. I KNEW something was either happening right then, or was going to happen. Something dark. Something really horrendous.

I was so convinced of this, I took out my phone and recorded the following, so there was a ‘date stamp’ on my gut feeling:
“Sunday, 1:32pm. 20th October. Something not right.”

I had no clue, obviously. Because this was more a premonition than a dream, there were no accompanying images for me to work with. I just had to wait.

As it happens, I didn’t have to wait too long. Three days later, in the very early hours of Wednesday 23rd October, police were called to an industrial estate in Purfleet, about twenty miles east of London. Inside a parked refrigerated lorry trailer, they found the bodies of 39 illegal Vietnamese immigrants, who had been suffocated during their long and arduous journey from the Belgian port of Zeebrugge.

Where does my premonition come in? Well, both the cab and the trailer with the migrants arrived separately in the UK. The cab came over by ferry from Northern Ireland to Holyhead in Wales, docking at 1:30 pm on Sunday 20th October. It was then driven south to await the pick-up of the trailer when it arrived from Zeebrugge.

This happened in the early hours of 23rd October, and at 1:40 am the emergency services were alerted to the tragedy by the lorry driver. He had tried to open the trailer door some minutes earlier to allow fresh air into the container. He was way too late!

The significance of my 1:32 timing was not lost on me – albeit this part of the tragedy unfolded around 1:32 am and not 1:32 pm.

That, thankfully was the last of dream / premonition of a tragedy. But there was a latent period of a few years some time back, so who knows?

What I’m noticing these days is the plethora of coincidental occurrences that surround me. In particular, there’s the ‘time thing,’ where I will randomly check the time to find the hours and the minutes are the same. I’ll do this several times through the day.

Maybe I’ll play an obscure record from my collection, only to hear it being given very rare airtime on national radio the following day.

You know – harmless stuff like that.

Oh, and of course there’s the extraordinary set of circumstances that led to me surviving a cardiac arrest in April 2023. (Rather than bore those who’ve read this already, here’s a link to my wee book that details the whole event and subsequent recovery in a light-hearted manner … pun intended.) 😉

How do these prophetic type dreams and premonitions come about? Does everyone have these, but only some acknowledge them? What’s the point of them if they’re not specific enough to issue warnings? Indeed, would it be possible to interfere with destiny – or would such intervention effectively change reality?

Heck – I have no idea.

I don’t view these dreams with trepidation, neither do I see them as a gift.

I’ve just always liked the idea I’m special! 😀
