I am the one and only …

Framed lyric sheet to Chesney Hawkes' hit 'The One and Only.' - Autographed by the singer.
(It’s a long story … 🙂 )

I’ve spent way too much time thinking on this.

What aspects do I think makes a person unique?

We’re all unique. Even twins, triplets and quadruplets etc are unique.

Can you imagine a world where everyone was the same? How bland and unexciting would that be? Nothing would get done. Not before teatime at any rate.

But here’s the bit I struggle with. If two ‘unique’ people were alike, then they’d no longer be ‘unique,’ right? So if they ceased to be unique and lost their identity, would they cease to exist?

In this world, all living things are unique in some form: some will be bigger; longer; stronger. Some will be kinder; more thoughtful and considerate. Some will be impulsive, while others are calculating. Some will be fast for a reason, and others slow. In all species, some will live longer than others.

You see what I mean?

How would a lion catch it’s prey if all animals moved at the same speed?

Yeah, I know I’m coming off-topic, but this is doing my head in.

Bottom line – in all life-forms, some may have special, honed talents and capabilities. Some may be able to adapt better than others. But every one is unique.

I am the one and only …

You are the one and only …

(Hey, cut me some slack – it was a late night last night.)
