Oh, ‘compliment/’ C-O-M-P-L-I-M-E-N-T.

Ah, right.

Well, I suppose tying in with my post of the other day, we folks in the west of Scotland, and Glasgow in particular, are also quite reticent when comes to doling out compliments. If I were to be told I was ‘quite good’ or ‘did OK’ at something, I’d be well chuffed.

So, to be told I can bring a smile, or even a laugh, to readers with my writing (blogs or books) really does tickle me. Several reviews of my ‘Damp Dogs & Rabbit Wee’ book commented on this. One even made the (rather rash, I thought) comparison to the author, James Herriot.

I have, in the past, been referred to as ‘that funny wee guy, Jackson.’

I know what is really meant … but I’ll still take it as a compliment.
