Honey! I’m home …!

Remember me? I used to be a big noise round these parts. The big kahuna.

The Big Cheese.

I suppose I still am. But only by virtue of their being nobody else here. Or reading this drivel.

Yeah, it’s been a while since I posted anything. But I’m back, like the proverbial bad penny, to bug your future happiness with some moans, groans, quibbles, opinions and inane nonsense.

So, where have I been? What have I been up to? (As if anyone’s in the slightest bit interested.) Well, I’ll tell you.

I published a book.

Same week, sadly my sister-in-law suddenly passed away.

The book initially sold well, then got ‘lost’ in the jungle that is Amazon.

So, I added a chapter, changed the title, changed the cover and re-published.

Same week, sadly my 95 year old father fell in his home and broke two bones in his neck.

The book initially sold well, then got ‘lost’ in the jungle that is Amazon.

So I paid for Amazon Ads. And sold more books. But the royalties were dwarfed by costs.

My father suffered complications during his three month stay in hospital.

I spent 72 /73 days by his hospital bedside.

Sadly, my father passed away in early January, by which time my wife and I were in India.

Alarmingly, we discovered my dad’s ‘carer’ had been accepting thousands of £££ from him!

Since our return to the UK, we’ve been caught up in ‘affairs of the estate’ & house clearance.

So there you go – no blog time; no time for any daft wee limericks.

BUT I’M BACK ON IT!

Whether this pleases you, excites you, horrifies you, or leaves you totally nonplussed, there’s no getting rid of me.

Look forward (? 😉 ) in the coming days and weeks to my rants about self publishing these days; to my recollections of a month in wonderful India; my pickleball obsession; some extremely dodgy limericks; recollections of growing up in the 1960s & 1970s, and any other nonsense that keeps me awake at nights.

This is my space. You can’t stop me!

None of your AI nonsense – this is THE REAL ME. (Taken in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India – January 2026.)
Robert (Bob) Jackson.

  1. Sorry about your loss of your dad and sister-in-law man… I know that is rough. I lost my dad and mom 6 months apart.
Glad to see you back! I can’t imagine what you have to go through in publishing a book…hey it’s still quite a feat to get it done period.

  2. So very sorry for the loss of your father and SIL. I hope the India trip brought you some measure of pleasure amid the grief.
Congrats on the published book. Hope sales pick back up.
    And yes… welcome back.

    • Thanks Keith.

I’m cutting back on my ‘targets’ for this year – no book writing (well, maybe a wee nonsense limerick thing 😉 ) and hopefully no more winding up the estates of dead people!

Instead, I’m concentrating on my Pickleball coaching qualifications and learning guitar. Dawdle! Easy!

So … bags of time for blogging! 😀 😀
