As potentially insulting or demeaning questions go, ‘what place in the world do you never want to visit?‘ must rank pretty high. And the follow-up question of, ‘why?‘ should only be answered by the extremely brave, or extremely stupid.
Your house may not be the neatest, or most tidy, or even 100% clean. It may well be in need of some tender, remedial work on its presentation. You’ll get to it when time and finances allow. Or when you’ve fully recovered from a period of ill health.
Yeah, OK, you know all that.
But you don’t need some charmless git to come and cast it all up to you. It’s your mess; your house. You love it regardless.
This is how I feel about the question of where in the world I’d never intend visiting.
There are some countries’ leaders (pointing now elbows 😉 ) who may be petulant enough to bar me from entry anyway, should I utter anything less than complimentary. There are others I may not feel comfortable or safe in, due to religious or political dogma, and so I’d think carefully about visiting.
But I love to meet new people, from countries with different cultures and beliefs to mine.
Perhaps if everyone was open-minded and accepting, nobody would even ask the dumb question posed at the start of this ramble.
Respect – that’s what it’s all about. Or should be.
So, in short, there’s no place in this world I never want to visit.
Meantime, I had a mean, hot and spicy curry last night. I can think of one place I may not want to visit – for a while at least! 😀
(Too much information? Sorry.)
