Talk Radio Europe – ‘Let’s Talk’ with Giles Brown.

If curiosity got the better of you and you’re visiting my wee blog for the first time …welcome!

Thank you for tuning in to Giles Brown’sLet’s Talk‘ radio show this morning and listening to me drone on about my book, A Space Hopper Killed My Hamster,’ and also for searching out the blog and reading this nonsense.

I think you’ll find I’m more comfortable with the written word than spoken – which can prove rather awkward when you consider the reams of paper and number of pens I need to carry with me when out and about in town, 😉

It was a fun chat with Giles, reminiscing about growing up in the 1970s. I know much of the TRE listenership will easily identify with the memories evoked in the book ‘A Space Hopper Killed My Hamster.’

(It was a weird coincidence that shortly before the piece, Giles played ‘Jack & Diane‘ by John Cougar Mellencamp. This record came out around the time I met my wife (Diane) and with my nickname being Jackie, and as a kid always wanted to be a football star, this became one of ‘our’ songs!)
I took that to be some sort of omen. I expect ‘A Space Hopper Killed My Hamster’ to be a Sunday Times #1 Bestseller by next week. 😉 🙂 )

The Kindle version costs less than a coffee in a Puerto Banus cafe, and is probably a lot more amusing. Go on – it’s smile inducing and will give you a nice, warm, fuzzy feeling of nostalgia.

Thanks again to Giles and his production team at Talk Radio Europe for having me on this morning.

  1. This is such a delightfully charming and self-aware piece—it feels like you’re chatting with the reader over a cup of coffee rather than “promoting” anything.

Right from the opening, there’s an easy warmth in your voice that makes a first-time visitor feel instantly welcome. That bit about being more comfortable with the written word (and needing “reams of paper and pens”) is especially endearing—it adds a touch of humor that feels natural, not forced.
